Job Summary
Bluebird Gardening is a small business that values its employees and has been providing landscaping, garden and lawn services since 2003. It operates out of a small office and shop space in South Minneapolis. Bluebird Gardening is known for exceptional garden service while maintaining a positive, fun work environment. We work outdoors in all weather conditions.
As a crew member, your job is to show up each day ready to work hard and help make “our” gardens shine. You will be on a crew of 1-2 other Crew Members and one Crew Lead. Crews provide installation of new garden spaces April – November. Garden installation work includes; removal of existing landscapes, planting trees, shrubs, perennials and sod, installing edging, grading, irrigation adjustments and mulching. Our crew members are integral to creating the distinctive, beautiful gardens Bluebird Gardening is known for. We encourage people with a can-do approach to work, even if they don’t have previous landscaping experience; our management team can train and provide mentorship.

Garden Installation Work
- Work as a team and independently on a variety of garden installation tasks such as: removal of existing landscapes, planting trees, shrubs, perennials and sod, installing edging, grading, irrigation adjustments and mulching
- Take direction from Crew Lead to ensure efficient and safe workplace conditions
- Operate machinery – Drive a trailer, skid steer, walk behind, dump truck, small equipment such as backpack blower, sawzall, etc.
- Maintain a tidy work site
- Communicate and represent Bluebird Gardening in a positive manner while onsite and traveling throughout the metro region
Misc. Duties
- Communicate any work issues or needs to the Lead or Manager
- Complete all required timesheets and reporting documents in a timely manner
- Have ability and desire to learn about landscaping topics such as: various landscape installation techniques, plant varieties, proper equipment use and maintenance
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies:
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in landscaping work
- Desire and ability to work outdoors and complete the physical requirements of the position
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education and Experience: Related landscape experience preferred but not required.
Computer Skills: Google email and docs, ability to do basic computer skills
Certificates & Licenses: Must be able to obtain a valid DOT driver’s license. First aid certified preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Crew members must be punctual and prepared for the day (proper clothing, footwear, food and water).
- Enjoy working outdoors and being able to work 8 – 10 hour days
- Drive a trailer, skid steer, walk behind, dump truck
- Must be able to complete tasks and follow directions
- Must be able to contribute to a positive work environment, even in inclement weather or challenging conditions
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily in outdoor settings, in all weather conditions, including temperature extremes, during day shifts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in outdoor and shop settings.
